Dear Parents and Students,

In nature, seeds are designed to scatter; whether by wind and gravity, by clinging to animal fur, or by consumption and excretion.  Seeds will scatter, with the sole purpose of “blooming where planted”. Parents and teachers have a similar goal for their children and students.  Eventually our children “scatter”, and we pray and hope that they too will bloom. Sometimes it is easier than others, but inside all seeds, exists the DNA to overcome and thrive.  The seeds of our schools have temporarily scattered, but they can still be nourished and grow. At the conclusion of our remote learning experience, we want to be able to say,

OUR CHILDREN BLOOM WHERE PLANTED

Sometimes a new location provides a new view, along with unexpected opportunities to thrive.

  • Students have the opportunity to create their own schedules, to spend longer and quieter periods of time working on an individual assignment.
  • Students have the opportunity to develop self-learning techniques, and for deeper reflection on the subject being studied.
  • Students have the opportunity to see that they can be strong, and resilient, and successful, in the face of a new challenge.
  • Students have the opportunity to see that they are in the driver’s seat of their lives; responsible for the road they choose. (They can call AAA if necessary – their teachers and fellow students for roadside assistance!)  ☺
  • Students have the opportunity to develop new connections, and deepen existing connections, by reaching out to help, or to seek help, from others.
  • Students have the opportunity to cuddle up, unrushed, with a good book, and chat about it with members of their household.
  • And we all have the opportunity to think about the ways we can grow and improve during this very atypical period in our lives.

It is the wish of all of us, that our children and students will “Bloom Where Planted”.  That they will continue to grow under these different conditions, perhaps even to emerge, in unexpected ways, better than before.

Be well and healthy,
